Two Durango, Colorado, legends decided to get hitched on my birthday in July this year. The difficult decision regarding a location or venue choice was made and I traveled to a beautiful venue, Echo Basin Ranch, 20 miles West of Durango near the town of Mancos to photograph this incredible union. It was classic July weather, hot and dry, but thankfully the wedding was held in the foothills of the La Plata Mountains which kept the temperatures relatively cool and the amount of sweaty participants relatively low. When Carolyn and Mike inquired as to whether or not I would be their Durango photographer I was ecstatic; I knew immediately that their wedding would be an absolute hoot and that fact made working on my birthday worth it (I typically don't like to do any Durango photography work on my birthday). It was convenient for me that I already knew these clients and it was also convenient for them because they got to avoid searching for "wedding photographers near me." Their party did not disappoint. Well, actually, it may have disappointed one particular participant: Don't worry, she got into the spirit of the occasion slightly after this photo was taken! I knew that the bride and groom would invite an excellent group of attendees due to the character of the two getting hitched and as it turned out I would have been hard pressed to find a better group of folks to celebrate my birthday with. Echo Basin Ranch is an excellent place to host your wedding or event if you plan on having a serious party because there are over 20 small cabins that all of your guests can stay in on the premises within 100 yards of the reception area. echobasin.com/
